Andrew McAllister is a full-time, professional photographer based in Akron, Ohio. He works on commissioned and personal projects with equal vigor. He is the curator of the Akron Biennial photography show at Summit Art Space.
Andrew specializes in location based portrait and documentary photography for individuals and organizations. His love for being on location came from both traveling and touring North America and Europe as a sound engineer in the mid-1990s. With a strong, independent spirit Andrew moved away from the confines of sound engineering to pursue photography. As an independent, professional photographer, Andrew enjoys working on a variety of projects. Despite much of his work being on location the cold Ohio winters inspired him to open a small photography studio in downtown Akron's historic district on North High Street. The studio provides Andrew and his clients a space to host a variety of portrait and commercial photo shoots.
His work has been shown at numerous area galleries including the Akron Art Museum, the Wexner center for the Arts and the Cleveland Museum of Art. Additionally, his photography has been published in Annual Reports, brochures, web sites and national and international magazines.
